Today marks the horrific anniversary when Hurricane Katrina slammed into Waveland, Mississippi, near New Orleans, #USA

The powerful hurricane also hit Louisiana on Aug. 29, 2005, forcing a storm surge that breached a system of levees built to protect the City of New Orleans.

Now watching #hurricane. #Ida’s eye while its rapid intensification continues it is ready for one of the strongest to ever make landfall in #Louisiana.

Ben Kallos proposes to fight excessively noisy NYC vehicles with radar technology with $1,575 fines.

The New York City Council member wants to combat loud motor vehicles by using radar technology that captures the intensity of loud sounds and identifies the responsible obnoxious driver and slapping them with an expensive summons.

Blue-Sturgeon Moon

Look up in the sky this Sunday to see if you catch an image of the full moon that will be both a "sturgeon moon" and "blue moon." 
 

The moon will officially become full at 8:02 a.m. ET Sunday, but it will still appear plenty large throughout Saturday as well as Sunday nights. Just look toward the southeast sky after sunset to catch a glimpse of the sturgeon moon rising,

Hurricane forecasters are warning of excessive rain and flooding in parts of the northern Plains and Mid-Atlantic with thunderstorms. 

After a record-setting start, the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season doesn't show signs of relenting as it enters the peak months ahead.

Tropical Storm Henri keeps spinning in a northwesterly course around 375 miles south, southeast of Cape Hatteras, N.C., which is likely to become the first hurricane to slam New England in 3 decades.

Tropical Depression Fred is forecast to dissipate, according to folks ar the National Weather Service  https://www.weather.gov/

Fred brings heavy rain, possible flash flooding, gusty winds and perhaps a few tornadoes as it tracks north from the upper Ohio Valley into New England Wednesday. Thunderstorms in Arizona and Utah may cause flash floods, especially in slot canyons and arroyos

Excessive heat warning this week for the Northeast as well as most of the nation and a heat advisory for the remainder of the area.

Remember to have plenty of water on hand if working or traveling outside. Temperatures today will feel in excess of 100°F, so please stay cool and hydrated. Dear mother nature: Whatever it is that you’re cooking up for earthlings, it’s not only done, you're burning and melting the pot.

Alaska Quake

A potentially serious and extremely large-scale earthquake has slammed the State of Alaska so large #USA hasn’t seen recently. 

The M8.2 Alaska quake is on the subduction zone interface. What this means is that the seafloor under the Pacific Ocean is being pushed under the Alaskan peninsula. It also means it generated a tsunami and this is a potentially dangerous development.
