Orchard Beach's Boardwalk Festival and Fireworks will be held tonight. This is a public beach in the borough of the Bronx in New York City. Orchard Beach is part of Pelham Bay Park and is situated on the western end of Long Island Sound. Once referred to as "the Riviera of New York City", the 115 acre, 1.1 mi-long (1.77 km) park consists of a 13-section sandy beach. Come and bring the entire family for music, fun. WikiLeaks / Pentagon Papers = Nixon / Obama. Four decades ago, a young analyst leaked a top-secret study packed with damaging revelations about America's conduct. Does any of this this sound familiar?

That study, dubbed the Pentagon Papers, has been released in complete form. It's a touchstone for whistleblowers everywhere and just the sort of leak that gives presidents fits to this day.

The documents show that almost from the opening lines, it was apparent that the authors knew they had produced a hornet's nest.

JFK Turtles Had One Thing on Their Mind

JFK Departing airlines had to delay their flights as a result of a turtle mating ritual. These turtles had one thing on their mind as their sex-crazed shells crawled across the runway at Kennedy Airport this morning and across the steamy hot tarmac heading for their seasonal breeding grounds.

According to FAA officials, runway 4L was shut down starting about 9:30 a.m. Port Authority workers were still working an hour later to move the slowpokes to safer ground.

They things they do for love-making.

About 2.5 million tenants in NYC will soon be forced to pay higher rents. Members of NYC Rent Guidelines Board have just approved a 3.75% increase for one year leases and 7.25 for those with two year contracts.

These increases will take effect on October 1 and will affect 1.1 rent controlled and rent stabilized apartment units. Just in time for this year's holidays.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

The days leading up to that Fourth of July Celebration are some of my favorites--those fireworks at Orchard Beach, all the picnics, assorted parades. I enjoy it because of what it stands for and because it’s such a festive time of the year.

What’s not fabulous about celebrating our nation's independence and paying honor to the day we became our very own and extremely unique United States of America?
