PUBLIC SAFETY PIRATES

Submitted by ub on

Public safety organizations include emergency management agencies, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, rescue squads, and Emergency Medical Services. However, it is police activity which continues to make headlines.

The recent events of police officers shooting unarmed individuals, or of breaking he laws they are being paid to enforce is nothing new. Here are just a few examples, following a quick search. We will begin with the good, followed by the bad, and then the ugly.

COPS GONE WILD?

Submitted by Admin on

Americans have witnessed multiple incidents of police officers killing unarmed civilians on both coats of this country and supposedly for various reasons. One of the most recent US incidents occurred in Los Angeles and some wonder if a public safety motto "To Protect and To Serve" needs to be updated.

Another investigation is underway after Los Angeles police fatally shot a homeless man on LA's skid row, during an encounter that was caught on video.

Valentines Day Celebration

V Day is days away. Are you wondering about ways to treat that special person in your life? Are you considering fancy chocolates and fine wine, or perhaps a sensual massage?

Our recommendation is simple and direct. Gratitude Kudos... This year on February 14th, while many couples are spending the big bucks at restaurants, drinking overpriced wines, try cuddling on your couch and saying nice things to each other. Because it turns out that despite all the efforts to impress on V-Day, simply appreciating each other does more for your relationship than almost anything else.

Suspended without pay for six months and some hope he goes away, far far away. After hearing from people who had to work wit him and reading the endless news stories and posts on social media, all that is left to say is Hasta Luego.

There are more important news stories developing all around the world and too much time has been wasted on an individual's ego trip and exaggerated tales gone from bad to worse.

When terrorists in Paris attacked offices of French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people and injuring as many, they were protesting parody on the Prophet Muhammad.

Now, people all over have condemned the attack, with some carrying sings or posting “Je Suis Charlie” (“I Am Charlie”).

This attack was one of France’s deadliest in decades, prompting it to raise its terror alert to the highest level. From Bangkok to Berlin, thousands are taking a stand against living in fear, as rallies defend freedom of expression.

Our health, our sight for letting us see the colors. Hearing for listening to the voices and sounds of music. Touch for letting us feel the breeze of the wind and our loved ones.

Although some will move from shutdown villains to Congressional royalty, there is more than control of Congress at stake when US voters go to the polls today. Americans will vote in 36 gubernatorial races, they will elect thousands of state officials and have their say in about 140 statewide referendums. Voters who sit out some elections, but vote today could be playing a vital role by helping to keep our democracy on track.

Chris Christie is full of....

If you were asked to finish this sentence, would you say leadership, hot air, himself, crap, or what?

NJ Governor Chris Christie is one of the most talked-about Republicans in the country on the eve of an election in which he isn't even on the ballot.

Is this déjà vu all over again? He did it back in 2012, when he bonded with President Obama while touring the hurricane-ravaged Jersey Shore.

The place to find beautiful people

They call it the city of angels, but the official name is Los Angeles, aka LA-LA Land and in nearby Hollywood, they have all the beautiful people who are lucky enough to walk down the red carpet, and there are those who are just content to get up close and personal.

To feel like you’re one of these people, spend an afternoon on West Hollywood’s Robertson Avenue, or down ridiculously overpriced Rodeo drive where upscale department stores offer excellent chances to rub shoulders with celebrities.
