Lost Magic?

The Sunshine State of Florida has become our American national bellwether, and certainly not in a perfect way, I should add.

Another shooting, this time a TV news crew has been shot while covering an earlier shooting. One journalist is dead. The other newsman is critical as of this posting. Fellow journalists rushed to help the crew that was shot. Then a mother and 9-year-old were shot. The 9-year-old didn't survive.

Asian American Attacks

California's Asian community is increasingly alarmed by multiple Asian-on-Asian mass shootings, including many deaths.

This hits home hard because my wife and son are both Asian and US citizens who fly like American eagles.

 

'But the shooter was Asian!' That doesn't negate the reality of anti-Asian violence.

It's an instinctive rebuttal to any support being sent to my community as if the shooter also being Asian makes it any less devastating.

The nation's urban population increased by 6.4 percent between 2010 and 2020, according to the US Census list of urban areas     

US Census Bureau redefines the meaning of 'urban' America. More than 1,100 towns, hamlets, and villages in the U.S. lost their status as urban areas as the U.S. Census Bureau released a new list of places considered urban based on revised criteria.
