On this day 110 years ago, New Yorkers got their first peek at the New York Public Library @nypl and their twin lion guards.

When EC Potter was given the commission to sculpt two flanking animals for the New York Public Library’s main branch at 5th Avenue and 42nd Street in 1910, he found himself fielding several suggestions. Former President and avid hunter Theodore Roosevelt declared he’d like to see bison. This was not easy.

FCC Investigations

Everyone living in America should know they can formally request the @FCC to investigate any local TV station for the content of their broadcasts. I know because I have held an #FCC license since my first job in broadcasting.

The FCC maintains jurisdiction over the areas of broadband access, fair competition, radio frequency use, media responsibility, public safety, and homeland security. The FCC was formed by the Communications Act of 1934 to replace the radio regulation functions of the Federal Radio Commission.

Ron Terner works as both a commercial and fine art photographer and has been doing so for over 45 years. He has had many exhibitions in the United States as well as in Latvia, France, Mexico, Norway, and Russia. He has lectured throughout the U.S. on his own technique of photochemical painting he terms the “PhotoTern.” An article on his process appeared in the July/August 1986 issue of Darkroom Photography Magazine.

In less than a week, 18 people have been killed during two mass shootings by 21-year-old men who recently purchased weapons. The suspect in the latest shooting killed 10 in Colorado is now sitting in county jail and charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder.

Last night, I was channel surfing and stopped to watch #MSNBC’s @Lawrence on cable TV. O’Donnell, whom I had met years earlier when Lawrence was a guest on The McLaughlin Group program I was co-producing. On last night's show  Lawrence was interviewing Aaron Sorkin and Sasha Baron Cohen about their award-winning film.

These are the Republican dirty dozen plus one member of Congress who are AWOL attending a GOP party instead of working.

The Republican lawmakers are facing a backlash after misleading the US House of Representatives about skipping votes to attend #CPAC. They are not representing their constituents in Congress by working hard on a much-needed stimulus package for the #USA.
