The holidays are a busy time for so many of us, including our families and friends. They bring gatherings, social time with colleagues, and opportunities to give generously to causes that we care so deeply about. www.cimages.me

This year feels different and it's really not business as usual. This ongoing story speaks of a breach of trust so deep it’s hard to comprehend. The violence visited upon young students and their teachers in Connecticut stops many of us cold. The festive mood of the season is shrouded by a nation's shock and mourning.

AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE FOR THE YOUNG

I think health care should be more affordable for people my age. I am 19 years old, and health care is simply too expensive! It is said that people my age spend more time in the emergency room than any other age below 75. Forbes.com said that an 18 year old may go to the doctor 2 or 3 times a year, costing about $600. If they were to get health insurance, it would cost them over $1000 a year. It would be counterproductive for someone to spend more on health insurance than the actual cost of their bills. It’s like filling your gas tank and never driving your car- it doesn’t make sense!

But, the good news is that feet are resilient. With regular attention and timely treatment when needed, you can keep your feet healthy and happy.

In Foot Care Basics you will learn the best ways to:

OBAMACARE

Submitted by ub on

The nation's highest court is expected to issue a landmark decision on the Affordable Care Act, also known as OBAMACARE.

There are several key legal issues being reviewed by the supreme court and this debated case revolves around the constitutionality of the individual mandate. It is scheduled to take effect in 2014 and will require that everyone maintain a certain level of health insurance in order to expand insurance pools and help mediate costs.

This forced purchase has angered opponents, who say this bill sets the precedent for the government to dictate other types of purchases.

A recent decision by The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ requiring insurance coverage for a range of women’s preventive health services, including birth control, at no cost is welcomed by millions.

“The new rule is a victory for millions of women who will now have access to contraception and other preventive health services and supplies, without expensive cost-sharing,” said Kathy Lim Ko, APIAHF president and CEO. “We commend HHS for recognizing the essential role these services play in promoting women’s health.”

HOLIDAY IMROVEMENT

As the holidays approach, foreign factories are kicking into overdrive in
order to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheap goods --
merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This year should be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there are plenty of goods and services!

It's time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in
