Americans Losing Faith

Good God, and other phrases are frequently invoked in American public life. Indeed, there is no shortage of instances of official acknowledgement of the divine, from the appearance of “In God We Trust” on our currency to the phrase “one nation under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance.

To be sure, the vast majority of Americans still believe in God. But there are strong signs that many are less certain about this belief than in years past. And a small but growing minority of Americans say they do not believe in God at all.

Back in 1952 was the first presidential election year when 40 million Americans owned TV sets. Gov. Thomas E. Dewey of New York, one of the architects of the effort to “draft” Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, clearly suspected that TV was going to change everything.

Marathon Madness

The big day is almost here... When friends cross the finish line, shaming you for still being in bed after noon.

It's the NYC Marathon, and whether you're in the race, watching from the sidelines or avoiding the entire athletic event altogether, you want to know about it.

The 26.2 mile race begins around 9A in Staten Island, then continues in waves through Brooklyn, up to Long Island City, across the Queensboro bridge, up First Ave to the Bronx and back down Fifth Ave to the finish line at Central Park.

Try to realize how difficult and hard it is to accomplish something on your own and appreciate the importance and the value in helping our family. This is what we all look for in people. We want someone who can appreciate the help of others, a person who values the hardships required to do important things, and who doesn't put money as an only goal in life.
