If Mayor Mike Bloomberg gets his way, We'll soon be saying no to Sweet Super-sized drinks.

Forget about 64-ounce stomach-busting sodas, or 20-ouncers. These have now appeared on are on The Mayors latest heath-conscious hit list.

In a dramatic move to reduce obesity, NYC may become the first in the nation to impose a 16-ounce limit on sweetened beverages sold in food establishments that receive letter grades from the Health Department, along with mobile food carts.

The 2012 Beach Season begins Saturday May 26th and since New York City’s beaches are a favorite recreation destination, the Health Department provides the latest water quality information to ensure that your trip to the beach will be a safe and healthy one. Water quality conditions are analyzed on a regular basis and beaches are classified as either "Open for Swimming," "Under Advisory," or "Closed – Temporarily Restricted for Bathing." If there are advisories due to wet weather conditions or increased pollution levels, they will be available here or by calling 311.

Doc Watson was a blind guitar-picking master. He died at age 89, while his lightning-fast style of flatpicking influenced guitarists around the world for more than a half-century. His music will continue to live on for future generations to enjoy.

Watson became popular during the folk music revival of the early 1960s, injected a note of authenticity into a movement awash in protest songs and bland renditions of traditional tunes.

In a meeting with the Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad, the Joint Special Envoy of the United Nations and the League of Arab States on the Syrian Crisis, Kofi Annan, today stressed that a peace plan, put forward in March, cannot succeed without “bold steps” to stop the violence and release detainees.

It was a hot and humid night tonight and at the end of the meeting, we had pouring rain , but you would not know it when you entered the non air conditioned City Island Community Center.

There was not an empty seat in the house as NYPD Captain Russell Green of the 45th Precinct addressed City Islanders and took questions from civic minded residents. The Captain said his his officers have been trying to help locals who wish to improve their quality of life by putting a stop to the rising crime rates on City Island.
