June thru September is always the busiest season for City Island. This weekend this small and charming nautical community plays host to an outdoor arts and crafts fair, but that is not all.

As visitors and boaters enjoy the sunny skies, calm seas and warm weather, the fishing season appears to be in full swing.

The 2012 Hurricane Season is here once again. It begins in June and runs through November for the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

And as most City Islanders should still remember, this region was spared the last time mother nature sent her calling card. However, according to The National Hurricane Center, although Hurricane Preparedness Week is now ending, our work has only just begun.

The fates of the 24 people who died at the Golden Gate Bridge are linked together by a 4 second fall.

It is considered to be one of the world's most beautiful bridges, The Golden Gate Bridge is now celebrating its 75th anniversary.

CELESTIAL WONDERS

It promises to be a spectacle that will never be repeated for another hundred years. The celestial phenomenon beginning in a few days and ending when Venus slowly inches across the face of the sun, likely will not again be witnessed by any of us alive today. Unless some mad scientist discovers the true fountain of youth, we will never witness this extremely special "transit of Venus."celestial phenomenon again.

Free Trolley service begins to shuttle folks from the #6 Subway station to Bartow Pell Mansion, to City Island this afternoon.

The City Island Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring another Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday and Sunday. The event includes Folk Art, Live Music, Foods, Candle Makers,
Handmade Jewelry, Photography, Face Painting and many other attractions.

City Island enjoys the best of both worlds: It is an urban location with the feel of a rustic fishing village and is known for its Yacht Clubs, seafood restaurants, antique shops and local historic sites.

QUEEN'S JUBILEE

The normal ebb and flow of British life gives way over the next few days to celebrate a series of UK street parties, flotillas, outdoor concerts and finally the appearance of Queen Elizabeth II, who is marking 60 years on the throne.

She was born in London on April 21, 1926, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary wasn't supposed to be queen. However, her uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated to wed American divorcee Wallace Simpson, 10-year-old Princess Elizabeth suddenly became heir apparent to the British throne.
