Epcot, Flower & Garden Festival, Walt Disney World. The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival enters its first full week, culminating with special guests on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In the festival center, HGTV’s Sabrina Soto (“The High Low Project”) will hold presentations at noon and 3 p.m.

At the American Gardens Theatre, Starship (“We Built This City”) starring Mickey Thomas will be in concert as part of the Flower Power Concert Series at 5:15, 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. All are included in regular admission. More info: www.disneyworld.com/flower.

New Rochelle retained its ranking as one of the five safest cities among cities its size nationally in 2010, according to the 2011 Annual Report released this week by the New Rochelle Police Department. The City was the 5th safest city nationwide out of 60 cities with comparable population. This marks the eleventh consecutive year as one of the five safest. Additionally, the City of New Rochelle has the lowest crime rate among similar municipalities in Westchester County and New York State.

In this lecture on March 18, 2-4 pm, renowned oil painter Sun Xiuting will share with the audience his experience as an artist. He spent his early days learning to paint by copying portraits of Mao Zedong and subsequently became an accomplished painter in the classical style. Among other things, he will discuss how he recreated in oil the 10th-century narrative painting The Night Revels of Han Xizai. See photo above.)

Harriet Beecher Stowe’s landmark novel “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” and John Brown’s 1859 raid on Harper’s Ferry were major causes of the Civil War, to be explored in a special talk by acclaimed author and historian David S. Reynolds at St. Paul’s Church National Historic Site in Mt. Vernon, on Saturday, April 14, at 2 PM.

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- A county corrections officer in Washington state has been charged with bigamy after Facebook discovered two women were connected to him and suggested they might want to be "friends."
