Happy Mothers Day

Everyone knows that every day is Mother's Day, but as we celebrate May 9 which would have also been my oldest and late brother's birthday I made special plans involving both my MoM, Margarita, and Big Brother Tony.

During his high school football days, Tony was known as The Cuban Bullet. He was fast and dangerous for anyone on the opposing side who was running with the football.

It is reportedly the world’s best comeback story, and it’s not an age thing. Jesus Christ was in his 30s when he rolled aside the stone from his tomb for Western culture’s foundational he’s back moment.

All of Humanity loves a good comeback and the billions of Christians on earth have the best one forever and evermore.

A City Island Christian man of the cloth recreated Jesus carrying the cross along the Avenue.

In Jerusalem, multiple places of worship were open. It was in extreme contrast to last year when the city was under lockdown. However, in neighboring Lebanon, Christians had to observe Good Friday under a lockdown while suffering an economic crisis.

As I rub the mezuzah on my front door, it reminds me of an annual holiday. This object is actually a piece of parchment, called a Klaf, with specific verses from the Torah that is then placed inside a mezuzah case, which is then affixed to the doorposts of a Jewish home. The mitzvah (commandment) of the mezuzah is one of the core practices of Jews across religious observance and belief.

Ash Wednesday is an annual holy day celebrated by Christians with prayers. It is preceded by Shrove Tuesday and falls on the first day of Lent, the six weeks of penitence before Easter.

Ash Wednesday is traditionally observed by Western Christians as a solemn reminder of human mortality and the need for reconciliation with God.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the penitential Lenten season. It is commonly observed with ashes and fasting.

What makes Love, Liberty, and Labor extremely important to all of us? These three make all the difference in the world for everyone.

As we look forward, and looking back, comparing to life in 1921, the similarities are amazing. A century ago, earth was pounded by a global pandemic; people around the world were starving, and there was a new #USA president being sworn in.

Christmas, Navidad, 圣诞 or The Feast of the Nativity is not only a day to open gifts and exchange presents. Christmas is also the day to open your hearts to friends, family, neighbors, and the entire universe.

For immigrant families like ours and many others, these special holidays come closest to the lost seasons in our homeland.

Please, allow me to tell you a real story I personally lived through. Once upon a time, there were two republics. Both had constitutions, laws, civil rights, a government, a congress, and a court system of law. The people could assemble, associate, speak, and write with freedom.

But as the people became unsatisfied with their governments, they chose to support new officials and were fooled by fake images of religion and a better life before reality began to set in.

Rosh Hashanah

While teaching communications at an Orthodox Jewish Yeshiva in Queens, NY, בית מדרש לתלמוד https://lcm.touro.edu/ I was asked by one of my Rabbinical students if I had ever blown a Shofar. I then thought it was a trick question, but I learned that a shofar is supposed to be a chaotic, helpless wail. 100 blows. To the gut.
